How We Verify Gaming Commission of Ghana Licenses
Updated: March 2026
The Gaming Commission of Ghana (GCG), established under the Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721), is the sole regulatory authority for all sports betting operations in Ghana.
- 1We obtain the operator's claimed GCG license number directly from their website.
- 2We cross-reference this number against the GCG's official public register.
- 3We verify the license class is appropriate for the operator's business model.
- 4We check the license expiry date to confirm it is current and valid.
- 5We note any conditions or restrictions attached to the license.
- 6We re-verify all licenses on a quarterly basis.
Zero Tolerance Policy
We never present an operator as GCG-licensed unless we have confirmed it on the Commission’s register. Any operator that claims a GCG licence it does not hold is removed immediately and permanently, and reported to the GCG directly. Where we list an operator that is licensed elsewhere, we say so on the listing and in the review, and we never describe it as licensed in Ghana.
How We Score Operators
Every review carries a Rating Breakdown built from the same five criteria, each marked out of 5.0:
- Odds Quality — margins on Ghana Premier League and major European fixtures, compared across the operators we cover.
- Mobile App — stability, data consumption and how much of the sportsbook is reachable on a mid-range Android handset.
- Payout Speed — measured withdrawal times from our own test accounts, not the operator’s advertised figure.
- Welcome Bonus — the size of the offer judged against the wagering conditions attached to it.
- Customer Support — response times and whether an agent resolves the issue on first contact.
The Overall Score is the unweighted average of those five figures, rounded to one decimal place. No criterion counts for more than another, and the overall score is never set by hand.
Operators we have not finished testing
An operator is only given an overall score once all five criteria have been assessed. Until then the review shows the criteria we have completed, marks the rest as not assessed, and reads Not yet rated instead of a number. We would rather publish an incomplete scorecard than average a figure out of guesswork.
